There are stone circles & cairns at Clyth, Brickigoe, and Stemster. The Grey Cairns of Camster are amongst the best-preserved Neolithic chambered cairns in the British Isles.

Within 30 minutes drive from Whinview there are heritage centres in Wick, Laidhay, Dunbeath and Lybster.

The Queen Mother`s former residence: The Castle of Mey is only 40 minutes away.

For those wishing to take full advantage of their stay in the North - day trips to Orkney run through the summer. A short sea crossing is made by passenger ferry & bus tours of the island can be booked.

There are 2 car ferry operations, which run throughout the year from Gills Bay & also from Scrabster.
